"Das ist doch a love song" is an audio tour accompanied by a guiding map. Based on memories and subjective impressions, Camila Rhodi converges Berlin’s extraordinary multiplicity, historical moments and the power of a dynamic lived experience to assemble small portraits of the city. A handmade map of Berlin is the starting point of the tour, combined with some drops of intimate, autobiographical narratives. The tour begins in artist's home, and then ventures out to follow her along her many journeys.
Camila Rhodi & Samantha Rennó (soundtrack)
Camila Rhodi has been working since 2005 with autobiographical performances. Based on her own stories, the artist has developed some shows, performances and a video installation.
In 2008, she did her first solo presentation ‘A Filha da Chacrete’ soon after writing the monograph ‘The Process of Creating the Scene from an Autobiographical Performance’ which was developed as her final thesis for the Postgraduate Course on Aesthetics at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. In 2010, sponsored by OI Futuro Institute, she did ‘A Dona do Fusca Laranja’, an autobiographical performance in three acts where she made 3 different tours and took the audience with her in her car, talking about her own stories related with the car and her city, Rio de Janeiro. Her first video installation ‘OVER 18 ONLY’ is taking part in the 15th WRO Art Media Biennale in Poland and her live performance ‘Take me’ was one of the highlights of the 100˚ Grade Festival in Sophiensaele this year. The question of absence, present throughout her works, creates a relationship with the audience that leads them to reflect upon their own stories involving these feelings. The artist was born in Brazil in 1978.
