Do you know your city? Are you aware of random possibilities that could happen along your paths? Strolling around offers many opportunities to collect new impressions of the city. While you stroll, you are on a path not having any aim and therefore you don’t need to try to be active towards that aim. For this reason, your senses will be sharpened and you will become open for places and spatial situations you pass. This openness will help you to investigate some of the effects spatial situations have on you and on other people. It will allow you to question, from a new perspective, functionality, usability, safety or accessibility of these spaces. Thus, you will reach a deeper understanding of how public spaces are constructed, how people behave there, how they talk, appropriate and use these spaces. To reach this state of openness a method must be found. To start walking without any aim needs a long-term perception training. „Fellow Walker“ is a game designed by Karsten Michael Drohsel, who will help participants to make first steps in the direction of such an awareness.
The game contains a deck of cards with different directions and duties on them. It will begin by taking the first card from the deck and following the direction or duty which is printed on it. Creativity might be vital to find solutions for the duties and ways to follow the directions. The game is very communicative and fun. Additionally, participants will learn some things on the politics of the places along the way.
