I'm a Stranger is a creative experiment in charting and sharing personal journeys. On the one hand, the city is a site of meetings and exchanges, criss-crossing networks of personal routes and private maps. On the other hand, it is an environment where one can easily get lost among the boundless number of strangers occupying it. This tour allows participants a double experience and a dual role: first as a map-maker, recording their own path; then as a map-reader, following a stranger's route and seeing the city through their eyes. The only rule is that you must reach the rendezvous point on time to meet “a stranger”. At the end of the tour we will come together to share and reflect on our experiences. Bring paper, pen and a sense of openness.

Alisa Oleva is a Russian artist based between Moscow and London, who is involved in Russia in the movement of roof-climbers, ‘diggers’ and urban exploration. Debbie Kent is a British writer/performer based in London, with an interest in walking art and public spaces. They met on the Performance Making MA at Goldsmiths University of London in 2011-2013 and now work together as The Demolition Project – which is also the name of their continuing participatory project exploring the relationship of mapping and urban life. The project itself was launched in May 2013 at the ]performance space[ gallery in east London and has since been presented as a durational work at festivals and gallery spaces as a workshop for groups including jobseekers and people with mental health issues. It invites participants to reshape and reimagine their city by inviting them to literally tear up a map of the city in return for sharing their stories. The Demolition Project recently completed a series of London research workshops followed by a performance-lecture at Rich Mix arts centre in Shoreditch, east London.
