How can a forgotten place, erased by the events of the 20 century, come back temporarily? Kaufhaus Ury is a performative installation, reconstructing the ground plans of what was once Leipzig’s biggest department store owned by a Jewish family. In 1937 it was Aryanized, had to close in 1938 and was destroyed in the Second World War. In this tour, the participants become Flaneurs, through non-existing elevators, the concierge cabin, shop windows, swinging doors, in a spatial juxtaposition of the present and the past.
