The moving space walk invites participants to explore different ways to re-orient the body and our attention, focusing on how we relate to our surroundings and vice versa. It is an immersive physical experience in which participants can navigate both as observers and performers: choreographing their way through the urban space, heightening their spatial and physical awareness and actively framing what they perceive to notice the everyday performances that the city unfolds. The built environment and its clearly defined zones of movements are both the stage and the co-director of the piece.

Diana Wesser is a performer and media artist, qualified to a postgraduate level in media art. Her performative walks & maps, audio walks and participatory & collaboratory projects invite to playfully use places other then intended and to use all senses to create body knowledge about everyday places. In analysing the rhythms and routines by which people negotiate space, define and produce everyday spaces, Diana’s practice investigates how we can rethink the power of the built environment within social, political, economic and emotional infrastructures. She has recently presented work at ArtAffects Festival, Basel (2014), Tanzlokal Festival, Stuttgart (2013), Festival ODYSSEE:KLIMA, Stadttheater Bremerhaven (2003), Centro de Cultural Digital, Mexico Citx (2012), Britto Arts Trust, Dhaka (2012), CerModern – Contemporary Arts Museum, Ankara (2011), EXPO 2010, Shanghai amongst others.
Diana is one half of the collaborative duo ‘urban (col)laboratory’ with English architect and artist Helen Stratford and co-founder of the „Stadtgeherkollektiv“ with urban planner and artist Karsten Michael Drohsel. Occasionally she is a curator in the field live art in public space.
