Since German reunification Berlin has lost its drive to develop a comprehensive urban vision and is increasingly stuck in a fragmented celebration of ”Self-Made Urbanisms“. A wide range of protagonists are, through various initiatives, shaping the urban fabric, transforming it into a mosaic of their particular interests and often evoking conflicts in the process. This tour around what was formerly one of Berlin’s deserted peripheries will explore the potentials for collective, rather than fragmented, future development.
