Shadow is a one-to-one tour which invites the audience to explore one’s place in the crowd. After a brief exchange of text messages at the beginning of the tour, the participant will find themselves setting out on an adventure in the footsteps of a stranger. At the end there will be a meeting and a surprise. Bring an open mind, curiosity and a phone.
Inspired by the work of Sophie Calle and Francis Alÿs.

_authors / guides:
Alisa Oleva is a Russian artist based between Moscow and London, who is involved in Russia in the movement of roof-climbers, ‘diggers’ and urban exploration. Debbie Kent is a British writer/improviser based in London. They work together as The Demolition Project, which is also the name of their continuing participatory project exploring the relationship of mapping and urban life. This durational work was launched in May 2013 and staged at festivals and galleries, with a progress report presented as a lecture-performance at Rich Mix in London in May 2014; in December 2014 a version was produced at Garage Centre of Contemporary Art in Moscow. Last year they also brought their participatory “make-it-yourself” tour I'm A Stranger to Berlin and Belgrade for B_Tour and made Groundworking, an audio tour of a hole in the ground as part of the Hole Story, a wider project engaging with issues around land ownership and urban redevelopment. The Demolition Project is currently developing work on a one-year residency at Space@Clarence Mews in Hackney, London, exploring ideas around walking and mapping, including audio tours of imaginatively 'demolished' buildings, walks around following and reflections, and long-distance transpositions of one place onto another.
