This tour was presented for the first time four years ago in the framework of the exhibition Belgrade Non-Place. The idea was to bring a small group of people to places that offer a wide or interesting view. Participants visited more than 15 places that are usually not accessible to open public, such as private apartments and public buildings with limited access, climbing on flat rooftops and open terraces, usually seeing the same landscape from different angles.
During B_Tour Belgrade, Temporary Viewing Platforms will be presented in two residential areas on the periphery of Belgrade. Participants will visit two high-rise buildings, with a 45-minute walk between them (or a short bus ride). These two views differ significantly because of topography, and they both offer a wide look at the surroundings far away from the city center, revealing a landscape of transition from village to socialist housing development and the recent scars of random alterations.
Temporary Viewing Platforms offers an alternative approach to guided tours, focusing on sharing and discussing the view, as it offers a new point of view on our everyday surroundings. This tour should open space for sharing and exchanging experience with the others, and comparing the actual view with preconceived ideas about what we should see or find in certain place. It should also reveal some aspects of everyday life in these neighborhoods, that are otherwise less legible.
