The tour The Schlafgänger invites you to explore and reflect on the unconventional and informal solutions developed in order to cope with the uncompromising developments of the neighborhood Prenzlauer Berg.
The Schlafgänger is an artistic research in which the artist Francois Lombarts will take on the role of lodger in order to engage and explore informal solutions that help to cover a rising rent.
During the tour, the results of the research will be presented; it will be an exploration of the flexible and adaptive qualities that define the city and its inhabitants. The tour will take you through makeshift hotels, kitchens and workspaces that have arisen out of necessity.

Die Tour ‘Der Schlafgänger’ lädt ein, die unkonventionellen Antworten zu erkunden, die im Zuge der kompromisslosen Veränderung der Wohnsituation im Prenzlauer Berg gefunden wurden.
Der Schlafgänger ist eine künstlerische Recherche, in der der Künstler Francois Lombarts, die Rolle eines Untermieters eingenommen hat, um ungewöhnliche und informelle Lösungen als Reaktion auf steigende Mieten zu erforschen. Während der Tour werden die Ergebnisse der Forschung vorgelegt - als Erkundung der flexiblen und adaptiven Fähigkeiten, die die Stadt und ihre Bewohner auszeichnen. Die Tour führt durch provisorische Hotels, Küchen- und Arbeitsbereiche, die aus der Not heraus entstanden sind.

Active as an independent designer since 2007, Francois Lombarts’ work focuses on physically experiencing, researching and defining the various aspects of public space.
His fascination for public space is especially rooted in its informal, unstructured and unregulated use.
The necessity to apply himself to and in space is an essential part of his approach.
By subjecting himself to his surroundings, he seeks to develop methods of observation that allow him to be as vulnerable and open as possible. In this manner he strives unearth the underlying nature of his surroundings.
